Southern Cross Hotel is a modern 4star hotel in the centre of the city with a proud heritage going back to 1883 when the original Grand Hotel on the site was regarded as one of the country's finest. The hotel has been completely rebuilt and extended, but much of the original ornate architecture has been incorporated in its banqueting and conference rooms. The Southern Cross opened its own boutique casino in 1999 with 12 gaming tables and 170 gaming machines.

The hotel has 3 accommodation wings - the Main Wing with 71 rooms and 2 suites, the Tower Wing with 30 rooms and 6 suites, and the Exchange Wing with 32 rooms.
