Copthorne Waitangi Resort shares 60 acres of sub-tropical National Trust Reserve parkland with one of the country's greatest single visitor attractions, the Waitangi Treaty House where the Maori nation made peace with British colonisers after a series of bloody wars. It is a beautiful site looking out over Te Ti Bay to Paihia two kilometres away. The hotel is a sprawling low rise building with most rooms looking out to the bay. Some guests see the bay over the most magnificent freeform swimming pool imaginable, edged with large rocks and covering one hectare (about 2.5 acres).
